Germany's medical cannabis imports increase by 73% in Q3 2024
According to Germany’s Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Device (BfArM), imports of medical cannabis in Q3 2024 increased to a total of 20,119 kg from 11,634 kg in Q2 2024, marking a 73% QoQ increase.
Since April 1, adults in Germany can possess up to 25 grams of cannabis and grow a maximum of three plants at home. Cannabis was also taken off the narcotics list, making it far easier to prescribe.
The lack of Pillar 2, or commercialization of cannabis in Germany, has allowed the medical market to continue growing as it serves the consumer demand via imported cannabis.
